Women in Song
WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY BARBARA BEGALA
It’s not a concert and it’s not a comedy.
It’s a great musical cabaret that includes vaudeville, variety, the musical, and the teatro canzone of Giorgio Gaber… and that even hints at the trashiness of TV talent shows!
It’s a single act performance that goes in some totally bizarre directions! On stage there is just a piano and three women: “We play the parts of some of the greatest artistes in the world of music, we dress up, enter their world, tell you all about their lives, and of course we sing their songs. We do not imitate these characters, but we try to bring their true essence to life. Aretha Franklin, Liza Minnelli, Tina Turner and many other strong and determined women had a level of success and fame that was often closely linked to the pain and suffering that they experienced in their lives. They were all artistes whose voices and music helped them to keep going and to give their existence as well as their art a deeper meaning and a broader significance…“.
WOMEN in SONG is a tribute to a female world in the form of a game that is fun, exciting, and above all extravagant.
